Driving Under the Influence

Driving while under the influence (DUI) or driving while intoxicated (DWI) are serious crimes punishable by law. They incur fines, jail time, license suspension or revocation and a plethora of other life-changing consequences.

If you have two drunk driving convictions you are considered a habitual offender of the law. If you are convicted of three, it is considered a felony. This will have a devastating impact on your freedom.

If you cannot make rational decisions after drinking, it is definitely in your best interest not to drink.

The recreational use of any drug is generally understood to be the use of a substance without any negative consequences for the user or other people.

Alcohol and drug use can progress into abuse and addiction so insidiously, that often you do not realize it has become a problem.

Things to consider:

  • Is your use very occasional; not a regular way of spending time?
  • Do you have the ability to decide whether you want to use or not, when it is available and freely offered?
  • Do you have a compulsive desire to drink?
  • Is alcohol needed to carry out daily functions?
  • Do you drink to deal with worries or problems?
  • Have you had health problems directly related to your use?
  • Are you spending an excessive amount of money on it?
  • Has it affected your family & friendships, or has anyone confronted you or complained about your use?
  • Has it interfered with your job or business?
  • Do you drink alone?
  • Have you had a memory loss after drinking?
  • Have you ever been injured when drinking?
  • Have you ever gotten into a domestic or physical altercation after the use of alcohol?
  • Has your efficiency decreased?
  • Have you ever been unable to stop drinking once started?
  • Do you drink to feel more comfortable in social situations?
  • Has drinking had an impact on your reputation?

These are some of the identifiers that indicate you may have a serious problem with alcohol or drugs. If you answered Yes to more than five of these questions, it is suggested that you seek help to evaluate your situation before more serious problems occur.
